Every number tells a story.
Behind every statistic is a mother who received safe care, a child who was treated before becoming seriously ill, a family visited in their home, or a community choosing hope over hardship.
Over the past six months, Cedar Tanzania's team has continued to serve some of the most vulnerable communities in rural Tanzania through Kamanga Health Centre and our expanding community outreach programs. Together, we've strengthened healthcare, reached families where they live, and provided life-changing support to thousands of people.
Here are just a few highlights from January to June 2026:
❤️ 214 babies safely delivered
🏠 1,311 households visited by our Community Health Workers, ensuring healthcare reaches families who would otherwise struggle to access it.
🧪 4,878 laboratory tests completed, helping diagnose illness quickly and accurately.
These numbers represent thousands of individual moments of care—conversations, diagnoses, treatments, encouragement and hope.
This year also saw the launch of the SMILE Project (Sustainable Maternal and Infant Lifesaving Endeavours), bringing skilled maternal and newborn care directly into villages through home visits. In its first six months the project has already delivered:
• 1,296 home visits
• 246 pregnant women supported
• 244 new mothers receiving postnatal care
• 704 women choosing modern family planning
• 0 maternal deaths recorded during the reporting period.
But while statistics are important, it's the lives behind them that remind us why this work matters.
One of those lives is Verediana, an 18-year-old mother whose baby was born with a cleft lip. Isolated, abandoned and struggling to feed her son, she believed there was no hope. When our SMILE team visited her home, they provided specialised feeding support, nutrition, counselling and ongoing care. Three months later, her son's weight had nearly doubled - from 2.6 kg to 5.0 kg - and Verediana is now encouraging other mothers in her village to seek healthcare early.
These stories remind us that our work has never been about numbers alone.
It's about healthier pregnancies.
Safer births.
Stronger families.
Communities with hope for the future.
Every consultation, every home visit and every birth attended is possible because people like you believe every mother and every child deserves access to quality healthcare - no matter where they live.
Thank you for being part of this journey. Together, we're building healthier communities, one family at a time.
With gratitude,
Nina and the Cedar Team
